3. Help Others

Since 2014 our community has been teaching meditation to beginners, supporting each other in sustaining a daily practice and exploring wellness, and then training volunteers as meditation instructors.

We're growing quickly. To date we've taught over 16,000 people how to meditate, have 41 volunteer meditation instructors, and over 50,000 in our online groups.

The good news is there are a ton of resources available online to learn how to meditate. The bad news is there are so many different traditions and practices that so many options can be confusing or overwhelming to a beginner.

Our community is comprised entirely of volunteers who came to a meditation practice seeking a positive change in their own life. We're ordinary men and women from around the country with families, jobs and busy schedules just like you. Yet, we all agree this practice has changed our life so profoundly we feel compelled to gratefully pay it forward.

We offer several modes of learning so you can select options that best suit your needs: Short articles and videos, one-on-one work with an instructor by phone or webcam, local chapters, weekend retreats, and a monthly crash course via conference calls.

Our community starts with a stripped down version of meditation that can function alone as a practice or serve as a foundation for mindfulness, vipassana, insight, zazen, metta or other forms of meditation. We emphasis starting small and focusing on just 3 to 5 minutes a day for the first two months.

New Leaf Meditation Project Instructors

We have 22 instructors available to help you get started meditating. Our instructors are volunteers who never charge for their services.

There is no better way of learning how to meditate than to work one-on-one with an experienced practitioner. Meditation instruction is free and can be scheduled here.

Our meditation instructor training program prepares volunteers to help us reach our goal of teaching a million people how to meditate. If you have been practicing regularly for at least a year, you are invited to apply for our instructor training program.
